Few Notes re: 2019 Season

Northam Park

Updated Thursday March 28, 2019 by Upper Arlington Bear Cub Softball.

Few notes about the upcoming season…

  • Registration ends the first week of April
  • Pitching and Catching evaluations (3rd – 6th only) are April 6th
  • Team Assignments will come out after that
  • Little Bears, will not play or practice until the season starts
  • Cubs, practices will be scheduled by the coaches
  • Bears, practices will be Tues, Thurs and Sat before the season starts
  • Golden Bears, practices will be Tues, Thurs, and Sat before the season starts
  • Game are 5:30 and 7pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays
  • Practices are Saturdays, once the season starts
  • Full season schedule will be available soon
  • Little Bears, are all on the same team
  • Cubs, there will be 8 teams
  • Bears, there will be 8 teams (vs. 6 last year)
  • Bears, are permitted to lead off and steal (if the ball goes beyond the catcher)
  • Golden Bears, there will be 4 (w/Grandview teams in the rotation)
  • Players will get a jersey, pants, socks and a headband

The move in the Bears League to eight teams will help us 1) meet the increased demand for participation, and 2) increase each player’s ‘game time’ to positively impact their learning experience.

With that said, the Little Bears will play on the grass.  The Cubs, will play on 2 grass diamonds and 2 dirt diamonds on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Please know that girls playing on the grass, is not a reflection of anyone’s enthusiasm for their experience, sport, and season.  First, the grass provides a great teaching tool for younger players.  That and UA Bear Cub Softball has a long standing tradition – of playing all games at Northam Park, together on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  We’d prefer the community come together those evenings, as opposed to games at various parks, etc.

Thank you to everyone, for your patience as Tristan and I continue to learn the ropes.  Trevor’s knowledge has been invaluable and we learn something new every day.

If there is anything we can do be of assistance, please let us know at uasoftballbearcubs@gmail.com
